Celebrating Spring on the Grand Strand

Celebrating Spring on the Grand Strand

Monday, April 21, 2014 – by OVR Staff
It’s definitely spring time around here in Myrtle Beach! Although it’s been a strange winter, with weather much colder than we usually see, it has finally warmed back up and the days are absolutely beautiful. Easter was a bit cold and blustery for us southerners, but now, the day after Easter, it’s 70 degrees and the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. Perfect beach weather! The nights are still cool enough to take a sweater if you go out for a stroll along the water’s edge. If you’re really hard core, (from up north!) then you will probably not even mind venturing in the water. If you ever want to know the difference between a southerner and a northerner, this is the perfect time of year to easily spot them—a true northerner will be seen on the beach in shorts and flip flops even though it’s 55-60 degrees and windy. A true southerner will be right there beside them with a coat and long pants, and possibly a pair of Ugg boots. Not hard to spot them! But one thing is for sure—this is truly one of the most glorious times of the year here in Myrtle Beach. It just doesn’t get much better.

If you are looking for something fun to do with your kids, why not take advantage of our strawberry season and go pick some perfect strawberries! There are several local farms here and a quick search online will tell you all you need to know. You can load as many in your buckets as you want and get them all for a fraction of the cost. It’s a must-do field trip during April in Myrtle Beach!
You can also take advantage of some amazing restaurant deals here, as many are celebrating opening back for the season. They haven’t marked up for summer crowds yet, so this is a great time to try new things. If you really want some fun, come check out Taste of the Coast on May 3 at the new North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex off of Hwy 31. There will be tons of food vendors, inflatables, live music, arts and crafts, as well as a great cause. It’s a perfect family outing! It runs all day on Saturday, May 3, from 11-4.
Finally, May 4 will see us celebrating the 50th birthday of Surfside Beach! This will also be an event full of family fun, so come and start early with a sunrise blessing ceremony with many local churches at the Surfside Beach Pier at 7am, Sunday, May 4. This will be a fantastic day to enjoy family festivities.
We’re gearing up for a great summer season, so call us today at Oceanfront Vacations and let us get you into the perfect condo right on the beach. You’ve got family memories to make, so what are you waiting for!!
